[A re-wright for] I have had my moment with sadness himself

I have sat with sadness in tears.
I have shared my sorrows in his presence.
I do not share my woes with just anyone;
for I have had my moment with sadness himself.
I have ate at his table shared a toast with his friends,
opened my heart to his arms.
I have fought by his side for my own happiness,
that I thought I lost so long ago and all time lacked space.
I forgot the happy times, for they ran away so long ago,
seeking out someone who has no woe.
But I have no means to lose my heart to sadness
and toss away everything I hold so near to myself
and forget that it’s even there.
Though sadness is never far behind me for he is my friend.
